About the role

Nature & Scope of Work

Responsible for teaching student success skills in two Access Programs at Capilano University. Duties include creating curriculum and classroom instruction for adults with learning differences. In addition, Faculty will be required to place students at work experience sites and provide coaching and follow up supervision. Curriculum includes topics such as employability, social skills and transitioning from a high school to a post-secondary setting and community as a more independent adult.

Experience, competencies & qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred in Special Education or related field;
  • Minimum 5 years working with individuals with disabilities;
  • Teaching experience with adults who have disability issues (cognitive, physical, mental illness etc); Curriculum development experience;
  • Practical experience in employment seeking activities (i.e. work placement and supervision, skills in individual assessment)

Participants will bring advocacy, organizational, and strong communication skills to the team. Ability to work well with a diverse cohort. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their philosophy of inclusion and advocacy.
